Designed in the 1700s
The Huanghauli Chair from the Ming Dynasty is a revised iteration from the previous Song Dyntasty; in which archaistic expressions were drawn upon as historical reference embedded within the design. Decorative characteristics were favoured by the literati class – and Wen Zhengen, a late Ming scholar, repeatedly cited a preference for furniture embodied by the Song and Yuan dynasties.
