Ladderback chairs can be dated to the Middle Ages across Europe. Traditionally, its seating was made of tightly woven cane or reeds; with a walnut or sycamore wood structure, assembled with a “ladder” like slatting for the backrest. For its time, it was the height of modernity and sophistication; although misinterpreted in later centuries for being a lower class chair.
Used condition - The item has been used in a living space and shows multiple easily visible signs of wear and tear. No structural damage.
